„Improvement of Energy efficiency of Szpital Specjalistyczny im. Sz. Starkiewicza in Dąbrowa Górnicza by constructing a cogeneration system together with thermal modernization, replacement of sources of light and construction of photovoltaic panel system”, Project, with the suport of the EEA financial mechanism 2009-2014 under the PL04 „Saving energy and promoting renewable energy source” Program.

The aim of the Project is to reduce emission of the greenhouse gasses and air pollutants in Szpital Specjalistyczny in Dąbrowa Górnicza, improvement of energy efficiency of public healthcare facilities, including their thermal modernization, as well as modernization and replacement of existing sources of energy.

The scope of activities undertaken by Szpital Specjalistyczny im. Sz. Starkiewicza in Dąbrowa Górnicza under the implemented project includes:

  1. Insulating external walls of the building.
  2. Insulating flat roofs of all buildings.
  3. Replacing window frames.
  4. Replacing external doors.
  5. Replacing of sources of light inside the building with energy efficient LED lighting and supplementing the lighting system with elements with automatic adjustment of working parameters.
  6. Decreasing the role of existing sources of energy by connecting a combined source of heat and electricity – the cogenerator.
  7. Assembling the photovoltaic system.

The Project wil be finished in April 2016.

The EEA Grants and Norway Grants are the financial contributions of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein towards the reduction of economic and social disparities and to strengthen bilateral relations with countries-beneficiaries in Europe. These three countries work closely with the EU on the basis of the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement). In 2009-2014 the value of EEA Grants and the Norwegian Grants was 1.79 billion Euros. Norway provides about 97% of the joint financial suport. The Grants are available for non-governmental organizations, research institutions and higher education institutions, the public and the provate sector in 12 recently acceded Member States of the EU and Greece, Portugal and Spain. The framework of the Grants is to allow extensive cooperation with entities from the donor countries; undertakings may be implemented by 2016. Major areas for suport will include environmental protection and climatic change, research and scholarships, civic socjety, healthcare and suport for children, gender equality, justice and cultural heritage.
